Silk seal from Lyon.

From the finder, "The seal from Lyon, I assume cloth related, a fabrics industry still exists in the area. ‘New EU Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes partnership to boost French textile sector’"

From Michel Royer, "This is indeed a lead seal for textiles, more precisely silk. Lyon was an important center for the manufacture of silk goods: stockings, handkerchiefs, fabrics, etc. Here we have a business involving two people, Ginet and Germain. There is no precise information on the Ginet who made our seal, but the Germain family was renowned for its manufacturers, who are still involved in textiles today. The seal most likely dates from the second half of the 18th century. It seems that these manufacturers sold their goods (probably silk stockings) primarily in the Netherlands, as the lead seal I have here comes from there."
