BSG.CS.00059 — Cloth Seal, Cloth Worker's Personal Seal, Privy Mark, B, 1600~1700

Found on Thames foreshore.

Privy mark with B on downstroke, W at base // blank

These seals were used by clothiers, weavers and searchers from the seventeenth century. Dating by style can be very inaccurate but No.225, Fig.31, Geoff Egan, Lead Cloth Seals and Related Items in the British Museum, Occasional Paper 93, is of similar style and has been dated seventeenth century.
