Italian, Flour Flour Bag Seal, D.& G Seal, Image & Found by Tom Bland.

Found in Norfolk, ?mm.

D.&.G. / ECONOM(O) / TRI(EST)E // 6

From Paul Cannon, "I wonder if I can read TRIESTE on the lower part of the obverse ie the city in NE Italy. I think Trieste was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire prior to 1918, after which it was annexed to Italy. I can't clearly make out or understand the rest but I wonder if it reads ECONOMI[?]. Could this be a brand name/type of flour produced by this uncertain mill in Trieste?"

See BSG.BS.00521 for another example.

From Michele Royer, "Flour mill seals from the steam mill of the city of Trieste. See link page 4 & 5 (in Italian) - I-GRECI-A-TRIESTE, 'The largest industrial unit was the steam mill (for flour) of Demetrio and Andrea Economo, founded in 1871 [...] in 1885 employed 264 workers, employed a steam engine of 400 horsepower and produced a flour of worth 3,730,000 guilders. It was destroyed by fire in 1900'. ... A little additional information for these seals: 'D.&G' for 'Demetrio e Giovani' Economo"
