Belgian, Customs Seal, Sterpenich, Image & Found by Matt Young
Found near Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire, 19mm.
Crowned shield bearing lion rampant, ROYAUME DE BELGIQUE around // 3, STERPENICH around (DOUANE on side)
A customs seal from Sterpenich, a town in the Belgian province of Luxembourg bearing the the Royal Belgium coat of arms as of 1837 (this is the 'lesser arms' used by the Government). Around the edge is the word DOUANES which is French and Dutch (satisfying both the main languages of Belgium!) for border control customs.
