Belgian Produce Seal, Image by StuE, Found by PWS
Found in Colchester region, 21mm.
On one side is a large dot circular border with OO in it, on the other BELGIAN PRODUCE is written.
The OO suggests it is a flour bag seal:- "(Italian) millers grade their flour by using a ‘zero’ rating. A single zero flour is quite coarse in texture, like very powdery semolina, whereas triple zero is much finer like cornstarch. But everyday flour is usually classed as double zero, or ‘00’." From BBC 00 flour recipes. A table relating Italian grades 0, 00, 1 & 2 to other countries' catagories can be seen at the bottom of this link.
See BSG.BS.01609, for similar pellet bordered seal.
