Cloth Seal, Cloth Worker's Personal Seal, Initialled, LC, 1700~1825
Cloth Seal, LC, Image by StuE, Found by Dave Haffenden.
Found in Essex.
Apart from the obvious LC or possibly G there is also a faint inscription on the H side around the edge - could be HARRISON with the H and top of the A missing. Found in the Colchester Area.
Possibly a weavers personal issue seal, see Gordon Bailey, Fig.2 P.17, 'Finds Identified'
From Egan, Lead Cloth Seals and Related Items in the British Museum, "incuse numbers are generally found on two disc seals of eighteenth-/nineteenth-century date - i.e. post-alnage."
