Identified by Philippe Lanez - Hoyt v. J. T. Lovett Co., 71 F. 173 (1895) Dec. 3, 1895 · United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit · No. 1, "Complainants, who claimed the name “Green Mountain” as a trade-mark for a variety of grapevine raised and sold by them".

From Paul Cannon, "The following is a promotional booklet of 1895, produced by the nursery which developed and introduced the Green Mountain Grape. The front page of this has the same image as appears on the seal and shows that this vine was produced at the nursery of Stephen Hoyt’s Sons of New Canaan, Connecticut. See Biodiversity Heritage Library.
A further source of information about the nursery is in “Handbook of Connecticut Agriculture” (1901), p76. “Established in 1848 by Stephen Hoyt of New Canaan and David C. Scofield of Mexico, N.Y. In 1853 Mr Scofield sold out to his two sons, Lewis and Refus. In 1856 Mr Hoyt bought out their interests and took in as partners his two sons, Edwin and James. Mr Stephen Hoyt died in 1879. The firm name was then changed to Stephen Hoyt’s Sons”. It seems likely that the ‘S.H.SONS’ on the seal can be expanded to the new name.
