Winged Sword or Staff & Snakes Seal, Image & Found by HarryUp
Found in the Liverpool area "27mm across. The only lettering I can make out with any certainty is... URRAN"
One side has a raised circular border surrounding a Caduceus, the symbol of the winged staff and intertwined snakes (Staff of Hermes or herald`s wand), the caduceus is a recognized symbol of commerce and negotiation and also used as a symbol representing printing.
The caduceus is sometimes mistakenly used as a symbol of medicine and/or medical practice, especially in North America, because of widespread confusion with the traditional medical symbol, the rod of Asclepius, which has only a single snake and no wings.
So could be to do with general commerce or even printing. We need another example showing more detail on the other side where URRAN can be made out.
Extensive rust deposits suggest it was attached by wire.
