Cloth Seal, Alnage, Coat of Arms of England 1406 to 1603 (with three breaks), Monarch on Throne, Image & Found by Tredda Read.
Found ?, ?mm.
Monarch seated on throne with legend around (unreadable) // coat of arms of England on crowned shield in arched tressure and bound by joined pellet circle outside of which is another unreadable legend.
An alnage tax cloth seal. The crowned shield shows the arms of England from 1406 to 1603 with three interruptions and the one letter legible from the inscription is in the Lombardic style. The other side appears to show a monarch on a throne much the same as Henry VIII is displayed on sovereign pennies. The arms disc of this seal is similar to No.112 Fig.25, Geoff Egan - Lead Cloth Seals & Related Items in the BM, where there is a suggested link to Edward IV or V.
